What local government did, 13–19 July

Holly Springs made the week's biggest decisions on 15 July. The council approved the 237-unit Hazel Ridge major subdivision off Duncan Cook Road and set a $63.98 million construction price for the buildings and site work at Eagles Landing Park. It also weighed a contested request to strip retail requirements from an approved project.

Pittsboro spent 14 July buying and selling land. The board agreed to buy 205 JA Farrell Street to lease to Lil' Tikes Learning Academy, to buy 274 Pittsboro Elementary School Road, and to convey 21.1 acres of town park land near Moncure-Pittsboro Road. Two more annexation petitions from Chatham Park Investors sat on consent, a hearing annexed Ransdell Farms, and a conditional rezoning for a mixed-use project called The Plant came up the same night. Fuquay-Varina annexed a 24.5-acre farm on Purfoy Road and started five more annexations toward an August hearing. Knightdale worked through three: continuing the Lyndon Oaks hearing and its development agreement, opening one on Hinton Oaks Industrial Park, and setting the Haven case for later. It held a joint public hearing on the Hopkins Farm planned unit development on 17 July.

Two smaller items are worth marking. Wake Forest considered a resolution endorsing a domestic-violence Blueprint for Safety on 15 July, alongside a land exchange trading a town parcel valued at $670,000. Its Board of Adjustment heard variance requests two days later for Wake Union Villas, a proposed 64-unit affordable development on Wake Union Church Road. And Fuquay-Varina's Board of Adjustment extended Christ Church's special use permit for a place of worship on Lake Wheeler Road by a year.

Sanford's council met for about 179 minutes on 15 July. The city publishes no agenda, no minutes and no captions, so the length of the sitting is the only thing on the record.

21 boards met across 13 governments, with 219 agenda items on file.
