Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

The board heard and decided all 13 appeals on its schedule; none was continued. Two of the requests, Chan's tax deferment and Atwater's elderly/disabled exclusion, did not involve a change in assessed value. Across the eleven valuation appeals, the combined assessed value fell from $5,546,300 to $4,920,900, a reduction of $625,400, about 11 percent.

In ten of those eleven cases the board's decision matched a value the county itself had proposed, either unchanged or after its own revision. The exception was John and Joan Richie's appeal at 600 Ironwoods Drive, where the board set $450,000, below the county's $567,100 recommendation and within $10,000 of what the Richies had asked. Pamela Hall's cut was the largest by percentage, 46 percent, landing at $47,400, below even her own $63,000 request. The one case where the board sided with an appellant over the county's recommendation outright was Chan's, granted a deferment the county had recommended denying for exceeding the income limit; Atwater's exclusion request went the other way, denied as the county recommended.

How the votes went

All 13 decisions were unanimous, with no dissenting votes recorded.
