What local government did, 5–11 October

Chatham County Schools disclosed a settlement on 6 October: $80,000 in BB v. Chatham County Board of Education, covering attorney's fees and reimbursement for educational services, with other non-monetary terms. School boards rarely put a settlement on a public agenda in this record, and this is the only one in the window.

Wake County spent the same night on capital and contracts, working through a 17-item consent agenda that included a Sheriff's Office contract for electronic-controlled weapons and construction contracts for the East Regional Library and the John H. Baker Jr. building. Fuquay-Varina settled for $450,000 to buy land for a future elevated water tank. Garner awarded a $795,040 playground contract and established a Garner Youth Council.

Knightdale's work session on 6 October carried an item nothing else in this record touches: a Fair Chance NC presentation from the town's community relations director on hiring practices for people with criminal records.

Pittsboro spent the week on one document. Its Planning Board held a special work session on 6 October to go chapter by chapter through the Chatham Park South Village Small Area Plan, with no public comment taken, and its Parks and Recreation Advisory Board reviewed three chapters of the same plan two days later. The plan reached the commissioners on 10 November and passed 3-2 after 21 residents spoke against it.

Orange County's Board of Equalization and Review sat three more times, hearing appeals from State Employees Credit Union on five branch banks, a Walgreens-anchored store on US 70 East, and a parking lot on Mallette Street. Its Board of Adjustment took a question of a different kind on 8 October: whether farm stays are permitted on property owned by Bandit Farms and HarperGrace LLC, argued as an appeal of staff interpretation.

37 boards met across 16 governments, with 380 agenda items on file.
