What's on this agenda
Orange County's Board of Equalization and Review is scheduled to hear seven 2025 revaluation appeals: five from State Employees Credit Union over branch banks around the county, a 154-unit student housing building on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and a home on West Queen Street. Each owner argues the county's assessed value is too high, and the board will weigh evidence from the owner and county appraisal staff before keeping or adjusting the figure.

Meeting recap
What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes
The board heard all seven appeals in a single session, recessing briefly from 2:08 to 2:12 p.m., and adjourned at 3:22 p.m. A discussion with the county attorney was postponed to the following day's meeting so she could attend in person. On the five credit union appeals, the county argued the owner's comparable bank sales came from outside the Triangle and undervalued how desirable Orange County is for bank sites, and the board agreed each time. On the two properties, corrections found on the county's own review - a re-measured apartment building and a house re-inspected for lost square footage and inoperable fireplaces - led the board to accept lower values than originally billed.
How the votes went
The board lowered two of the seven values and kept the rest. University Apartments at 600-0 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard went from $15,103,900 to $14,500,000, and the West Queen Street home went from $907,200 to $819,900 after the county's own re-inspection found errors in square footage and fireplace count. All five State Employees Credit Union appeals were denied, with the board keeping the county's original values.
