What local government did, 28 September – 4 October
Chatham County's commissioners and Pittsboro's board met together on 29 September, and the joint agenda is the interesting part: the 2024 county community health assessment, Pittsboro's draft climate action plan, and two other briefings. Neither board voted. Chatham had done the same thing with Siler City a week earlier. Four governments share this county and they are increasingly working through the same documents in the same room.
Orange County's Planning Board recommended approval 8-1 on 1 October for a conditional rezoning of 78.11 acres at 1039-UT NC 86 North, a 49-lot conservation subdivision near Hillsborough. Commissioners had opened a related hearing on a 61-acre conservation subdivision on NC Highway 54 West the week before. The Board of Equalization and Review sat four times in five days, on 30 September and 1 and 2 October, taking 17 matters on one of them, including four listing-penalty compromise requests.
Garner's council took the week's most forward-looking agenda on 30 September: updates on the BRT South bus rapid transit project and Wake County's One Water Plan, and three local ordinance requests, one of them a proposed Garner Youth Council. Its data center thread starts here in the tagging, months before the moratorium.
Chapel Hill received an information packet on 30 September with three items and no vote, including an update on the town's language access program and the 2025 compliance report for the Carolina North development agreement.
