Meeting recap
What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes
Orange County's advisory board on aging spent most of its December 9 meeting on a problem its senior centers did not choose: unsheltered people using the Seymour Center. Staff are considering a bag policy, worked out with the library and the county attorney, and the county's street outreach team offered training for center staff and more frequent rounds now that it is back to full strength.
The timeline for anything better is long. The building at 2700 Homestead Road is about a year away from hosting cold weather cots, and a day center is a couple of years out. The county has approved the lease for the cots, but what happens after that is not settled.
