What's on this agenda

Orange County's advisory board on aging met March 10 with a full slate of program news and its own reporting obligations. Quarterly reports for year four of the 2022-27 Master Aging Plan were due on transportation, social participation and inclusion, employment, and communication, and the board discussed the survey and next steps for the 2027-32 plan.

The board also gave its report to the county commissioners that same evening, and took up appointments, its attendance policy and the FY 2026-27 budget.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting.

The director's report was mostly things happening in the community: an annual monitoring visit from the regional area agency on aging over three days, the hundredth episode of the Aging Well Together radio show, an AARP Great Places to Live series featuring Chapel Hill, free tax preparation running through April 15, and Orange County Senior Games registration open through March 27. Interviews were underway for an evening facility manager at the Seymour Center.

Events named for the month included a singing group at the Seymour Center, a Women's History Month program on Eva Clayton, a job fair co-sponsored with social services, and a recruiting event for Project EngAGE with a panel of graduates.
