What's on this agenda
The Orange County Parks and Recreation Council heard the consultants' opening presentation on the county trails plan on 5 March 2025, and recommended a new member to fill a vacancy left by its vice chair's resignation.

Meeting recap
What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes
Consultants set out six guiding principles and a schedule for the plan, which is the first attempt to map and connect trails across the whole county; other plans have been site specific or municipal. The Mountains-to-Sea Trail is the only real through trail, and much of it is unfinished. Asked how the plan would reach decision makers, the consultants said budget and feasibility recommendations will be built into the timelines and presented to the commissioners, who would likely ask staff for implementation plans. Members raised connecting to municipal plans and using the safe routes to school plan to add multimodal links. A county website for the plan is in development.
The council recommended a Chapel Hill Township applicant to the commissioners to replace its vice chair, who resigned over time commitments. Staff reported the Fairview courts should be finished in late spring and the Perry Hills mini-park is under construction after a short delay.
How the votes went
