What's on this agenda

Orange County's Human Relations Commission met virtually on December 17, 2024, for a short business meeting: subcommittee reports, planning for its February retreat, and filling seats within its own leadership.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

The commission set its annual retreat for February 2 and sketched the agenda: a general overview, a budget review, planning for future events, and analysis of a community survey. Tonya Jones was nominated as secretary and accepted.

Subcommittee reports took the rest of the hour. The outreach and engagement group discussed applying the county's One Orange equity policy, and one member said he would consider co-chairing it. Another member offered to join nominations and governance. The community events subcommittee still needs a co-chair, and staff pressed for a date for the Pauli Murray awards before the delay creates budget problems. Eight of nine members attended, along with the county's chief equity and inclusion officer and its community engagement coordinator. The commission next met January 28, 2025.
