What's on this agenda

Cary's mayor called this special meeting for a closed session under three exceptions in G.S. 143-318.11: to consult with the town's attorneys under attorney-client privilege, to keep certain records confidential under Chapter 132, and to consider the qualifications, competence, performance, character, fitness or conditions of employment of one or more public officers or employees. The notice, posted November 11 for a meeting a week later, does not say who the session concerns, and no other business is on the agenda.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

The council met just long enough to vote itself into closed session. Weinbrecht called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. On a motion by Bush, seconded by Craig, the council voted to go into closed session under G.S. 143-318.11(A)(1), (3) and (6), the same three grounds named in the notice. All seven members were present: Weinbrecht, Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Bryson Robinson, and council members Jack Smith, Lori Bush, Carissa Kohn-Johnson, Michelle Craig and Sarika Bansal. The council stayed behind closed doors more than five hours, adjourning at 10:41 p.m. with no further open-session action recorded and no public comment period held.

How the votes went

The only recorded vote was the motion to enter closed session, moved by Bush and seconded by Craig: approved unanimously, 7-0, with no dissenters.
