The council heard that adult entries to the 2025 Nature of Orange Photography Contest rose notably, though staff could not identify why since the entry form did not ask how participants heard about it; future forms will collect that data. Members approved sending the long-delayed Parks and Recreation 2030 Master Plan mid-plan review to the Board of Commissioners, with a new cover letter noting that Capital Investment Plan changes since the 2024 draft have altered several projects' futures and recommending work begin on the plan's 2030 successor. The council discussed but reached no consensus on priorities for its September through December work plan; staff will survey members and report results in September. The director reported ongoing coordination with Fairview Community Watch, Fairview Youth in Action, FFORC and Habitat for Humanity on community needs at Fairview Park, including new soccer goals for informal use pending a permanent field once landfill mitigation is complete, and described flooding damage from Hurricane Chantal to the Eno River corridor, which closed River Park and the Farmer's Market Pavilion and caused substantial damage to the Occaneechi Village site.
