The Wake County Public School System wrote rules about screens this year. The board took a first reading of policy 4318 on student phones in March and adopted its first artificial intelligence policy in June. On 15 September it took second readings on fourteen policies, among them equity and instructional materials.
The board approved a 2026-27 budget on 5 May. Wake County had not settled it by July, so the board adopted an interim budget resolution and approved the reconciled budget on 18 August.
