Meeting recap
What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes
Members asked for the work program to identify who benefits from each project, and raised the need for a funding prioritisation process and clear eligibility guidelines to be written into the transit plan and other governing documents. The release for public review passed unanimously.
GoTriangle reported a federal obligation deadline of 4 March requiring agencies to move quickly on grants, and the chair advised against spending money not yet awarded. Chapel Hill has submitted a federal reimbursement request for its north-south bus rapid transit and is prepared to fall back on transit tax revenue if federal money is delayed. Hillsborough's train station and transit-oriented development project awaits Norfolk Southern's approval of a preliminary engineering agreement, and the town is third in line behind Kannapolis and Lexington; the Ridgewalk greenway is on schedule. Carrboro is exploring a new alignment for the Estes Drive improvements to cut cost while keeping the connection to Chapel Hill Transit.
GoTriangle's March service change makes route 800 a direct service to Boxyard RTP and the regional transit centre and runs route 805 every 30 minutes between Chapel Hill, Woodcroft and Southpoint. In August, route 400 goes to 15-minute frequency between Durham, Chapel Hill, UNC and Duke.
