What's on this agenda
Orange County's Commission for the Environment met to keep scoring its fourth round of Community Climate Action Grant applications: 25 requests totaling $1,151,873 against $262,500 available. The commission also planned routine business, including reappointments for four members whose terms end December 31 and updates on county environmental programs.

Meeting recap
What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes
The commission spent most of the meeting ranking Community Climate Action Grant applications. Three members who had submitted or were tied to an application — Reade Oakley, Ian Morse and Veronica Penn Beattie — recused themselves. With $262,500 available against $1,151,873 in requests, the group dropped the lowest-scoring applications and worked through the rest, agreeing to fully fund some and partially fund others. They ran out of time and will finish the ranking in November.
On other business, members approved the September 9 meeting summary unanimously. Staff reported that four members with terms expiring December 31 — Regina Baratta, Aimee Vandemark, Patrick Fn'Piere and Jane Harris — all want to be reappointed, and paperwork will go to the Board of County Commissioners' clerk. Staff also reported the county's Duke Energy Foundation grant award of $25,000 and said the commission will start work on the State of the Environment Report at its November meeting.
How the votes went
Members approved the September 9 draft meeting summary and later voted to adjourn at 9:03 pm; both motions passed unanimously with no opposition recorded. No vote was taken on the Community Climate Action Grant rankings, which the commission did not finish.
