Wake County's commissioners take up the county's part in the proposed combination of WakeMed and Atrium Health on Monday afternoon. WakeMed is asking the board to approve amended and restated articles of incorporation and a second amendment to the transfer agreement, both required before the two systems can join. If the board agrees, the chair would be authorized to sign, subject to federal regulatory approval and whatever terms the county attorney requires.

The board also opens the 2027 revaluation. Staff submit the proposed schedule of values, standards and rules, and ask the board to publish notice that both the market value and present-use value schedules are available for inspection, with a public hearing set for October 5. Two public hearings are on this agenda: a business development grant for Novartis Innovative Technologies, under the incentive policy the board adopted on August 17, and the 2025 consolidated annual performance and evaluation report on the county's affordable housing spending. On consent are a five-year VMware licensing agreement through Presidio Networked Solutions, the schematic design for new General Services and Library Administration buildings at the Wake County Office Park, and a sublease of part of the Falls Lake project so Blue Jay Point County Park can keep operating.
