Wake County's school board takes first readings on 4 August of three policies about how it runs itself: relations between the board and the superintendent, board meetings, and the meeting agenda.

The rest is operations before the school year starts. Ten contracts cover buses — in-house maintenance, air conditioning repairs, preventative maintenance and two more for transporting exceptional children — and the construction list runs to the Timber Drive Elementary parking lot, a design change order at Joyner Elementary, a temporary construction easement to the City of Raleigh at Millbrook High, and the Paramount Parkway site for Wake Early College of Information and Biotechnology. The East Wake High roof bids were pulled and came back a fortnight later.
