The Cary Historic Preservation Commission met Sept. 10 without its chair, Cortney Bonvillain, who was absent; Vice-Chair Katherine Loflin presided. The agenda covered honorary historic district programs already running in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, the commission's draft 2026 work plan, and a continuing update on the town-owned Nancy Jones House.

Two new Teen Council liaisons, Chase Koch and Meenakshi Nair, were introduced to the commission.

The commission asked staff to arrange a virtual talk from Greensboro representatives on their honorary-district program at the October meeting, with follow-up material from Winston-Salem. Members also asked staff to revise the draft 2026 work plan to separate short-term tactical goals from longer-term objectives, with adoption planned for October.

On the Nancy Jones House, staff pointed to a new stabilization and preservation-timeline page on the town website and the commission discussed scheduling a site visit. Staff also reported the town will receive an Anthemion Award on Sept. 23, and members reflected on outgoing Chair Cortney Bonvillain's departure from the commission.
