Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

The board heard all four appeals as scheduled. Walmart sent a representative for its Hampton Pointe Boulevard store; the other three appellants, two Wendy's parcels and one owned by L4 Carolina Properties, did not appear. The county's consultant defended each assessed value with sales and income data, and the board kept every value unchanged.

The vote split 2-1 on the Walmart appeal and the first Wendy's appeal, with Saru Salvi, who chaired in Leon Meyers' absence, voting against both. The remaining two votes, on the second Wendy's parcel and the L4 Carolina Properties parcel, were unanimous.

How the votes went

The board voted to accept the county's recommended value with no change in all four appeals. Saru Salvi voted against on the Walmart appeal (501 Hampton Pointe Boulevard) and the first Wendy's appeal (100 S. Greensboro Street); the other two votes, on the second Wendy's appeal and the L4 Carolina Properties appeal, were unanimous.
