Meeting recap
What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes
The board heard all 13 appeals over about three hours on November 18, with a recess from 3:12 to 3:20 p.m. It reduced nine assessments and left four unchanged, cutting combined value from $11,956,600 to $10,520,200. It went further than the county's own recommendation on several appeals, including a 50% floodplain land adjustment on the North Lakeshore Drive property that cut its value by $950,000, and a Marions Ford Road property with worn outbuildings reduced below the county's proposed figure. All appeals passed without opposition except the last, a 1962 house on Markham Drive, which the board reduced to $740,300 over Chair Leon Meyers's dissent, 2-1.
How the votes went
Twelve of the 13 appeals passed unanimously among the three-member panel of Leon Meyers, Saru Salvi and Richal Vanhook, with no votes against. The final appeal, a Markham Drive property, passed 2-1, with Leon Meyers casting the lone vote against reducing the value to $740,300.

Individual reductions ranged from 4% to 50% of assessed value, on grounds including comparable sales, independent appraisals, deferred maintenance and flood-zone location. The largest single cut, $950,000, went to a lakefront home on North Lakeshore Drive after the board applied a 50% floodplain land adjustment beyond the county's own recommended 15%.Nine reduced, four unchanged
