Meeting recap
What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes
No one addressed the board during public comment. The board then approved the August 19 minutes without discussion. Director Rachel Raper reported the office had enough funds to do its work, and said the county had 110,461 registered voters, up 527 since July 22.
Members discussed how the director could give more background on each election official's experience before recommending appointments. They also discussed the Registration Repair Project, which still lists 1,296 Orange County voters. The board then appointed early voting officials for the November 4 election, weighing party recommendations and past precinct officials' preferences. The vote was unanimous. The board set its next meeting for September 16 at 5 p.m. and adjourned.
How the votes went
The board voted unanimously three times: to approve the August 19 minutes (moved by Chair Clare Brennan, seconded by Secretary Elvira Mebane), to appoint the early voting officials (moved by member John Sims, seconded by Secretary Mebane), and to adjourn (moved by Sims, seconded by Mebane).
