Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

Commissioners approved the school construction interlocal agreement with both county school districts, adopting three changes the districts had requested. They also created a School Capital and Financial Analyst position, funded at $500,000 for the current fiscal year, to coordinate the work. They also approved a resolution, added to the agenda that night, urging Congress to increase oversight of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

On tax collection, the board authorized staff to open talks with Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough on replacing their shared agreement with separate contracts. It also authorized talks with Durham and Mebane, whose agreements expire June 30. Staff are due back with a report in April. Proclamations opened the meeting for Black History Month and Human Relations Month, both approved unanimously.
