What's on this agenda
Orange County's commissioners heard the second group of county boards and commissions present their annual work plans on March 10, a yearly exercise in which each board reports what it did and what it plans, measured against the commissioners' strategic goals. The first group presented on February 10.
The board then returned to the Land Use Plan 2050 information request and closed with appointment discussions for eight advisory bodies.

Meeting recap
What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes
Ten boards and commissions gave their 2025 work-plan reports, the second round after the first group appeared February 10. Highlights included the Planning Board's five conditional rezonings, $156,232 in small-business grants and $115,639 in agriculture grants from the Economic Development Advisory Board, and $95,000 in artist relief grants the Arts Commission gave out after Tropical Storm Chantal before holding its Uproar festival two weeks later. On the Land Use Plan 2050, staff presented an updated Fact Book showing the county's population grew by 5,049 people between 2022 and 2024, and a countywide survey found 7,515 approved but unbuilt housing units, most in Chapel Hill. Commissioners return to the plan at a retreat March 21.
Commissioners then filled seats on eight advisory boards by consensus, including the Animal Services Hearing Panel Pool, the Board of Equalization and Review, the Historic Preservation Commission and the Board of Adjustment. On the Arts Commission, they split over reappointing a member with attendance issues and named a replacement instead. On the Board of Adjustment, a nominee for its vacant seat wasn't interested in serving, so the board kept re-advertising it. The meeting adjourned unanimously at 9:20 p.m.
How the votes went
Appointments were made by board consensus rather than recorded roll-call votes. The meeting itself adjourned by a unanimous vote at 9:20 p.m.
